With a massive storm front moving across the South East during the morning it was looking likely we would have to cancel the event for the first time.  With lightning and heavy rain still falling an hour before the start time.  Thankfully it all cleared and it turned out to be great running conditions for the brave people that turned up.

This week there were 28 runners, of whom 1 were first timers and 5 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 5 different athletics clubs took part.

Volunteering We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen:

Frank ALLEN, Olivia BLACKNEY, Bret DALGLEISH, Gordon LONGHOUSE, Ashley LOVETT, Merrilyn MCMILLAN, Howard REES

Did you know that everyone who makes parkrun happen each week is a volunteer? The best part of this is that anyone can be a volunteer. We ask that each parkrunner fulfils a volunteer role 3 times a year. It is so much fun and we promise you won't regret it. Get on board by emailing us with the dates that you can help froghollowoffice@parkrun.com. Alternatively place your name on the clipboard when you check in after your run.

Barcode reminder

No printed barcode = No result = No exceptions.

Printed barcodes are used at all our events to record your result.

We're happy to announce that you can now get your very own parkrun barcode wristband. The band features your barcode and "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" contact details so it's handy for all runs, not just those around the lake. See http://www.bentlogic.com.au/parkrun-wristband.html for details. If wristbands aren't for you they also still sell the key tags that also feature your barcode, seehttp://www.bentlogic.com.au/parkrun.html. Part of the proceeds from the purchase of every wristband and key tag go to parkrun.

Sometimes the barcodes won't scan, but there are a few things you can do to ensure they scan:

1) If carrying your barcode while you run, roll it up to avoid creasing or crumpling. When you unroll it for scanning, it will look as good as new

2) Laminate a barcode to keep it sturdy

3) Order some of the durable plastic key tags advertised at http://bentlogic.com.au/parkrun.html, (but have a few extra paper ones handy in case you forget to bring your plastic tag!)

4) After you print out your barcode once on paper, copy a whole lot more! Each week, you can bring a fresh one, that is not creased or crumpled from previous use.

5) DO NOT request a scan of your barcode from your phone. Unfortunately the (inexpensive) scanners that parkrun uses cannot scan from mobile phones or other screens

6) DO NOT ask for an exception to the printed barcode rule to be made for you as refusal often offends

7) HAND IN the plastic finishing token handed to you at race's end when your barcode is recorded.
